CAPE VERDE
Set in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa is Cape Verde, volcanic eruptions created ten unique islands. Each one offering very different landscape and experience. The warm climate and mostly dry weather make this a wonderful all year-round destination. Until 1976 the islands were a colony of Portugal. The language spoken is Portuguese with a mixture of Creole. The Cape Verdeans are warm and friendly, everybody is made to feel very welcome.
SAL ISLAND
The charming island of Sal is an amazing destination with miles of golden sands and warm turquoise waters it is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Sal is Portuguese for salt; the island has a long history with salt mining although not as big as it was, and these days is main tourist attractions. The island feels unspoilt by tourism making it a desirable destination. The islanders work together with the environment and safeguard the loggerhead turtles famous on the island.
Santa Maria sandy beach stretches as far as the eye can see, a spot of sunbathing and enjoy watching the surfers ride the waves as they crash on the shore. Dotted along parts are the beach are bars restaurants and adventure sports. Join in or just be a spectator your days on the beach will chilled. There is a small pier on the beach where the local fishermen bring their daily catch, See the huge tuna and colourful unusual fish and other exotic creatures being cleaned and prepared for many of the local restaurants and hotels.
The town centre of Santa Maria is close to the beach and is generally quiet during the day. In the evening small towns nightlife has a varied choice of venues with traditional live music, dancing and cocktail bars.
