    Essential Information

    Transfer Time

    Havana José Martí International Airport to your hotel in Havana: Approximately 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic. The following day, a group transfer from Havana to your hotel in Varadero is included and takes approximately 2–2½ hours, depending on traffic. At the end of the holiday, a group transfer from Varadero back to Havana Airport is included for your return flight. Transfer times are approximate and may vary.

    Health Requirements

    Consult your GP or travel clinic before departure about vaccinations and any malaria precautions. Use mosquito repellent and drink bottled water. Carry prescription medication in its original packaging and check any restrictions before travelling.

    Currency

     Cuban Peso (CUP). Credit and debit card facilities can be limited in Cuba, and some overseas-issued cards may not work. It is therefore advisable to carry sufficient cash for your stay. Pounds Sterling and Euros can be exchanged at authorised exchange facilities, banks and hotels. Keep some smaller denominations available for gratuities, drinks, taxis and smaller purchases.

    Passports & Visas

    British citizens require a Cuban Tourist Card or appropriate visa before travelling to Cuba. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay and meet the current Cuban entry requirements. You may also need to complete the required online travel information before departure. Check the latest entry requirements before travelling, as requirements can change.  Other nationalities should check their own requirements.

    Important Information

    Cuba is 5 hours behind the UK during British Summer Time and 4 hours behind during the UK winter. Electricity is generally 110V or 220V depending on the property, and plug types A, B and C may be encountered, so a universal travel adaptor is recommended. Internet access can be slower and less reliable than in the UK, and occasional power or supply interruptions can occur. Take care in busy traffic and keep valuables secure. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required, as this holiday includes substantial walking, sightseeing, travel and occasional early starts.

    Suggested tips are voluntary. All amounts are in USD. As a guideline, see below:

    Local Guide/Driver USD 5–10 per person
    Restaurants (if a service charge is not included): Approximately 10% of the bill.
